The spokesman of the Judiciary, in a press conference today, Sunday, October 13, announced that the case of Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi has been sent to the execution branch. These two journalists were previously sentenced to six years in prison each by the appeal court of Tehran province.

Niloofar Hamedi, the journalist of "Rooznameh Sharq"( Sharq Newspaper) published the photo of Mehsa Amini in a coma for the first time, and Elaha Mohammadi, the journalist of "Rooznameh Ham Mihan" ( Hammihan Newspaper)who went to Saqqez city and prepared the Funeral Ceremony report of Mehsa Amini, in the early days of the nationwide protests of 1401 were arrested Some time later, these two journalists were transferred from Qarchak Varamin prison to Evin prison.
At the end of October 2022, the verdict of these journalists was issued by Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Salavati. Niloofar Hamedi was sentenced to seven years in prison for the charge of "collaboration with the hostile government of America", five years in prison for the charge of "collecting and colluding to commit a crime against the security of the country" and for the charge of "propaganda activity against the Islamic Republic of Iran" sHe was sentenced to one year in prison. Also, Elahe Mohammadi was sentenced to six years in prison on the charge of "collaborating with the hostile government of the United States", on the charge of "collecting and colluding to commit a crime against the security of the country" and on the charge of "propaganda activity against the Islamic Republic of Iran" sHe was sentenced to one year in prison.
At the end of August of this year, these two journalists were acquitted by the Court of Appeal of Tehran Province on the charge of "collaboration with the hostile government of the United States" and the other sentences issued at the preliminary stage are five years imprisonment on the charge of "gathering and colluding against the security of the country" and a A year of imprisonment was confirmed for each of them on the charge of "propaganda activity against the regime".
With the application of Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, a severe punishment of five years in prison will be applicable for each of these journalists.
Mrs. Hamedi and Mohammadi were released from Evin prison on January 14 last year after posting bail. Some time after the release of these journalists, the Judiciary Media Center announced the filing of another court case against them in Tehran's General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office and announced the reason for opening this case was the discovery of the hijab of Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi.
