" I'm not going to register my site !"
Ahmadinejad government has asked all blogger inside Iran to register their site with the government and if this is not done , the government will deny the access . On this issue the blogger has started to post a flag on their site reading : " I'm not going to register my site !" .
Background:
* Speaking at the UN summit in Geneva, Iranian President Mohammad Khatami told delegates that the key
requirements of a knowledge based society are a "commitment to ethical values, human rights and principles of democracy".
* Iran is on Reporters Without Borders' list of the 13 enemies of the Internet.
Filtering in Iran must be stoped !
* " Mihan blog " services has announced that ; on Monday January 1/2007 a list of 597 weblog from one of the government offices officially was sent to "Mihan blog" management for filtering.
*The section of " Women rights " from the site of "Ayatollah Saneei" have also been filtered by several ISP including "Sepanta".
* The following site have been filtered : Parastoo, Zanestan, Hastia , Babak Biat , second self.......
* We the signaturies : Civil rights activists in Iran , women organizations, weblog writers, technical Internet users,human rights organizations, university professionals, specialists and Iranian citizens.... are worried about filtering, censorship, and blocking the information on internet in Iran particularly in women sections and gender problems and therefore make our protest in this regard.
* Filtering of the sites is done by a "committee of three persons" and with the order of telecommunication minister, Ministry of justice , "www.ict.gov.ir", " Committee Taeen masadigh",.....................
* Previousely the " photo services " section of ISNA was also been filtered.
* Previousely the filtering was done by local filtering providers, but six months ago the deputy of telecommunication bought a several million dollars American equipements for filtering the websites in Iran.
* Not long ago Iran participated in a conference on information society and have signed the resolution which has emphasized on all countries must officially recognize the free flow of information on internet.
