How many political prisoner were executed on September 1988 inside the prisons in Iran ?

This is the time when eight years Iran-Iraq war was ended.

Why they were executed?

The responses to these questions are not clear but for sure the execution of political prisoners was by thousands. It was a mass murder.

“Kayhan” a pro- ministry of information newspaper believes that the number does not exceed 600 people
Mojahedin Khalq believe the number goes to 15000
Ayatollah Montazeri believe the number is between 2800-3800
UN believe the number is around 1500
