On This Day: Every December 10 is celebrated as Human Rights Day. In 1948 the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is the first global enunciation of human rights. The Declaration was formally established when the 317th Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly adopted resolution 423(V).
