The pro-democracy movement in Iran today unanimously believes that he enjoys his current position because he was "reappointed" president after stealing several million votes in June 12 presidential election.
Popular protests against this state of affairs have been met with bullets from the Iranian regime. Thousands were arrested and dozens were killed. Opposition supporters have been tortured in jail and credible reports of rape have surfaced.
In recent years the Western media has not focused on the systematic human rights violations in Iran but rather on Iran's nuclear ambitions and Ahmadinejad's rhetoric toward Israel and the Nazi Holocaust. Iranians are deeply upset by the general inattentiveness of the media and world leaders to their political protests.
If you listen to the democratic voices of Iranians and leaders of Iran's Green Movement there is a unanimous view that Ahmadinejad's policies have severely undermined Iranian national interests and he has inadvertently better served the interests of Israel.
Although the regime has been able to reassert control due to severe repression recent events have led to important social transformations in Iran. Today there are many prominent names publicly opposing the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Many open letters have been circulated that for the first time directly criticize him. U.S. policy under Obama has also played a constructive role. The absence of military threats and new economic sanctions has given democracy activists more room to maneuver, posing new challenges to the regime.
In order to deal with this internal crisis Khamenei's only option is to shift attention to Iran's relationship with the outside world -- the United States in particular. By increasing verbal attacks on the West and exacerbating regional conflicts he hopes to draw the attention of both Iranians and the world away from the systematic violations of human rights in Iran.
Iran's nuclear ambitions should not be considered the primary weak point for the regime. To a limited extent Khamenei and his disciples can manipulate the nationalist sentiment of Iranians around this issue.
The Achilles heel for the regime today is the widespread and systematic violations of human rights against it own people. Greater exposure and scrutiny of this key issue will generate more popular discontent toward the leaders of Iran. Khamenei cannot maintain regime loyalty or acquiescence in the face of these massive human rights violations. It is precisely these organized repressive measures that the International Criminal Court, in other contexts, has called "crimes against humanity."
Although Iran, like the United States and Israel, are not members of the ICC, charges can be brought against the Iranian regime via the U.N. Security Council -- similar to the process that led to the arrest warrant for Omar Al Bashir, the leader of Sudan. We in the Iranian human rights movement can document, with certification from a team of international lawyers, that leaders of the Iranian regime are guilty of crimes against humanity under Article 7 of the Rome Statute that established the ICC.
Today, the people of Iran are in need of the moral and spiritual support from people around the world. In the current circumstances the most important form of support would be to assist with the campaign of charging the leaders of Iran with "crimes against humanity" and to help disseminate this initiative so that it becomes the main avenue of engagement with Iran by the international community.
We are seeking to place this issue at the top of the international agenda so that leaders of the Iranian regime will think twice before traveling abroad as well as to make it morally unacceptable for leaders of democratic countries to extend a hand to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Canada to boycott Ahmadinejad's UN speech
By THE CANADIAN PRESS, cp.org,
Updated: September 23, 2009 12:32 PM
OTTAWA - Canada's seat at the United Nations will be empty during today's speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Canada will not attend Ahmadinejad's address to the UN General Assembly in New York, said a spokeswoman for Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon. "Canada's seat at the UN will be vacant during the Iranian president's speech," Catherine Loubier said.
The Iranian president denies the Holocaust, harbours "hostile views towards our democratic ally Israel" and continues to violate the human rights of his own people, Loubier said.
"President Ahmadinejad's repeated denial of the Holocaust and his anti-Israel comments run counter to the values of the UN General Assembly and are shameful," she said by email.
"It is clear that President Ahmadinejad uses his public appearances to provoke the international community and Israel. Canada does not tolerate such unacceptable behaviour."
Iran's pro-reform opposition has staged dramatic protests since Ahmadinejad was re-elected in June, claiming the vote was fraudulent. The Iranian government waged a bloody crackdown and opposition groups say at least 72 protesters were killed.
Government officials maintain that only 36 people died, and Ahmadinejad repeated that claim in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday. Hundreds more have been jailed.
Ahmadinejad told AP those who died were "not at fault." He blamed Iranian opposition politicians and "European and American politicians" who, he said, fuelled the violence.
Loubier said Canada will continue to demand the release of those "unjustly detained" in Iran, including Maziar Bahari, an Iranian-Canadian reporter working for Newsweek.
Bahari was imprisoned while covering the election unrest.
Ahmadinejad said in the AP interview that three Americans detained in Iran for 53 days illegally entered the country when they went off course while hiking in northern Iraq in July.
Nevertheless, he said he will ask the Iranian judiciary to treat the case with "maximum lenience."
Ahmadinejad also was asked about Bahari but he did not reply. The ambassador at Iran's UN mission, Mohammad Khazee, later said he hoped Bahari's case would also be resolved.
Canada and Iran have been involved in a diplomatic row since Zahra Kazemi, an Iranian-Canadian photojournalist from Montreal, died in Iranian custody in 2003 after she was tortured and beaten.

(22 September 2009) As Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrives in New York to address the United Nations General Assembly, the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran is circulating mobile billboards protesting recent violence and extensive human rights violations in Iran. The mobile billboards (see pictures below) are circulating in midtown Manhattan, near UN headquarters, to focus the attention of the diplomatic community on the human rights crisis in Iran. The Campaign, together with Human Rights Watch urged the General Assembly to take resolute action by appointing a special envoy.
Human Rights should be issue number one in negotiations!
(12 September 2009) The “P5+1” nations should put the need to respect human rights at the top of their list of issues to discuss with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran said today.
Iran’s “package of proposals” has suggested that areas for negotiation include “Protecting human dignity, respect for their culture and rights.” The general theme of the proposal was a broad and general range of issues including “security,” “stability,” and “peace,” and the proposal noted the need to for the international community to proceed on the basis of a “solid foundation of justice and law.”

Tomorrow is the day.Based on the news a huge rally is planed,Karoubi,Musavi,Khatami and Rafsanji are planning to attened!
Many grand Ayatollahs have broken their tie with regime and Khamenei and have joined the camp of reformists and they have no respect for Khamenei and one of the Ayatollah from Shiraz called Khamenei as " traitor". In Kurdistan province because of regime's policy of violence, underground groups have assassinated so far two judges and one grand Ayatollah member of the "Assembly of Expert" . Unfortunately violence will bring violence and regime is to be blamed for pouring oil on the fire instead of hearing the cry of Iranian for freedom and backing off .
Tomorrow is the day, Karoubi, Musavi, Khatami , Rafsanjani and many more are joining the rally. Last night all over Tehran witnessed once again the cry of " Alah o Akbar" on the roof tops.
In Canada , cyclists are planning to move from Toronto to New York to join the rally beside UN headquarter with thousands of other Iranian from around the world and it has come to my attention that on Saturday several Iranian political group have planned protest in solidarity with Iranian people in Toronto.
Report from Iran indicate that , Ahmadinejad will be the first to speak to the United Nation.
Iranian people repeatedly asked the heads of states to leave the meeting when Ahmadinejad is going to speak because he is not the legitimate representative of Iranian.
I'm worried about my country.

The coup d'etat regime for fear from people's revolt, moving slowly preparing cases against high ranking reformists !
This were the heated subjects between Karoubi, Musavi and the regime officials. The subject also became the concern of MP's in parliament for investigation. By looking into the last months newspapers and online website articles shows enough of this heated discussion among high ranking regime officials , Ayatollahs and among the Iranian society.
The stage was such that; Mr. Karoubi was speaking on this issues and sometimes meeting with regime officials and was showing evidence and all the regime officials were denying the allegation and were rejecting Mr. Karoubi's comments and evidence.
But hear what happened then:
Around 3:00 oclock agents with the searching warrant from newly appointed prosecutor raided the office of Mr. Karoubi at "Jamshidieh-Tehran" while searching his office took away with them all the documents, CD's , film and computer and closed and sealed his office." , said Etemad Melli party spoksperson speaking with ILNA.
Now Mr. Bahonar a conservative MP and a supporter of Ahmadinejad and also deputy of house speaker says that ; if Mr. Karoubi won't be able to strongly prove his allegation , he has commited a big crime and he must respond to that.
Now , how can Mr. Karoubi prove that he is telling the truth when the agents have raided his office and took away all the document? You moron MP! Instead of questioning the raided agents and prosecutor you are demanding Mr. Karoubi to show his evidence? you are as guilty and lier as Ahmadinejd.

ARTICLE 19 urges Human Rights Council to address free expression
ARTICLE 19 has provided a Submissionto the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) raising serious concerns about thefailure of the Islamic Republic of Iran to respect and promote freedom ofexpression in that country.
This Submission, which comes as the HRCprepares its Universal Periodic Review of Iran, focuses on the IranianGovernment's failure to fulfill its international obligations to protectthe right to freedom of expression. In particular, ARTICLE 19 examines a number of restrictions on freedom ofexpression contained in the Iranian Constitution, as well as the highlyrestrictive regulation of print media that represents a serious incursionon the structural freedom of the press and its independence from politicalinfluence. ARTICLE 19 is particularly concerned about the extensive contentrestrictions on print media. This includes a lack of objective criteria andclear definitions in the Press Law, which also sets out licensingobligations for all individuals and organisations operating in the presssector, and excessively harsh penalties, including incarceration, floggingand suspension/banning of media outlets, for violations of the Press Law.It also notes that there are a number of problematic administrative andjudicial practices which further heighten the repressive impact of thelegislative provisions, including the inappropriate use of theRevolutionary Court and the issuing of written orders by the Executiveconcerning what material can be discussed in the print media. Furthermore, the submission criticises the Government's control overtelevision and radio broadcasting, and a lack of independent publicservices broadcasting. ARTICLE 19 also raises serious concerns about thenumerous cases of arbitrary arrest and harassment of journalists, bloggersand writers, and outlines instances of internet censorship in Iran. ARTICLE 19 deplores the severe violations of press freedom and freedom ofexpression in Iran and urges the HRC to address them during the review.

The ideological cabinet will fail and the crisis will increase!
IRAN WATCHCANADA does not beleive in slogans which ends with: death to....
the Islamic Republic regime has suffered great deal because:
1-Deep split between the rulers and those to be ruled has been created.
2-Theose to be ruled do not want the rulers.
3- The rulers has imposed themselves by controling economy, propaganda machine and by imposing oppression on society.
4-Rafsanjani has accepted the crisis without pointing out about its nature.
5-Khatami has offered the regime to start reforming itself by coconducting a referendum.
6- Regime could accept the offer of Khatami but was afraid and knew well that; by conducting referendum the people would say NO to regime and regime didn't want this to happen ,also didn't want the international observer to be present at the presidential election.
7- Regime has announced Ahmadinejad had 11 million vote more than Musavi , then what was all the fear for repeating the election, but instead regime decided to suppress peoples peaceful protest on election cheating.
8-In short: public dissatisfaction has reached to its climax, and regime internal unity has shattered completely.
9- the ideological cabinet will fail and the crisis will increase.
10- All the above are growing and acting against the regime
11- Ahmadinejad wants to solve the multi dimentional crisis of the regime by threat and slogan .
12-Regime has built its house on water ( by giving loan to people, by asking 6 million under poverty line people to attened the religious ceremonies and to vote for the regime , registering their childeren's name in universities, helping their marriage , issuing for them business liscences and..... )
13- From now on, regime will not go for resettlement of differences but instead it will go more against them.
14-this trend will weaken the regime and will strengthen and widen the social movement.
15-The triangle power in Iran are : Khamenei- Ahmadinejad - Sepah Pasdaran ( the Guardian Corps)
16- Rafsanjani has initiated the plan of " a leadership council" instead of "velayat Faghih" in the Assembly of expert in recent months, which created more differences between Khamenei and him.
17- For the first time in 30 years history of regime, the reformists understood that their real and strategic allies are the masses and not the other regime wings. And the recent movement is the begining of this solidarity which could have started from 12 years ago ( The begining of reform movement).
18-This movement with all it's particulars will not burn out (the flame will continue to burn ).
19- Technology brought new dimention to this movement , millions of people around the world have seen the shot to death of the girl known as " Neda " and the people of the world cursed regime for doing it . Regime is confronted with new phenomenon.
20-Ahmadinejad's Government of coup d'etat is anti -women and the appointment of three women for his cabinet won't change anything.
21- Most Government around the world hate Ahmadinejad's government and this would make it difficult for Ahmadinejad .
22- the " Green movement" is a social and civil rights movement and not a revolution or not just a fight among the regime officials .
23-The particulars of the social and civil rights movement is " its fall and its rise again".
24- The green movement has grown up in the weeks of election and today it is rooted and is in it's adulthood.
25- The current common demand is, not to recognize this government and to call for re-election.
